Cummins N14 injector circuit checks
The injector solenoid valves are actuated by the ECM to control fuel metering and timing, each connected by a supply and a return wire; the normally open valve closes only on an electrical pulse during injection. On the N14 the actuator harness is external, extending from the C connector port in the ECM along the left side of the rocker boxes to the pass-thru connectors mounted in each rocker box, where the injector pigtail connectors attach on the inside. Shop talk tells the technician to inspect the injector pigtail wires so none short to ground against the push rods or push tubes, and to examine the pigtail nuts and connectors.
