Who needs this fault code 271 DTCs manual
This manual is for diesel technicians, fleet maintenance staff, and workshop owners diagnosing low signal voltage or short-to-ground conditions in the electronic fuel pump actuator circuit. It is useful when INSITE™ shows Fault Code 271 active, poor idle, low power, disabled regeneration, EGR closure, or reduced torque linked to the fuel pump actuator driver circuit.
The troubleshooting sequence starts with checking whether Fault Code 271 is active, then inspecting the fuel pump actuator connector for loose connectors, corrosion, bent or broken pins, pushed-back pins, moisture, damaged seals, debris, shell damage, wire insulation damage, and damaged locking tabs. It then checks circuit response, verifies whether Fault Code 272 becomes active while Fault Code 271 becomes inactive, and continues into ECM connector and engine harness checks.
The later guided steps cover pin-to-pin and pin-to-ground short checks using resistance measurements, with a greater-than-100k-ohms specification shown in the extract. The repair paths point to cleaning connector pins, repairing damaged harnesses or connectors, replacing or repairing the engine wiring harness where a short is detected, checking ECM calibration revision history, using Procedure 019-032 for calibration if required, and clearing faults with INSITE™ after reconnecting all components.
