DT466 camshaft rocker arm procedures
This section explains measuring journal and lobe wear with a micrometer, pressing the camshaft gear on after heating it to 149-177°C (300-350°F) without exceeding 177°C (350°F), and checking camshaft end play with a dial indicator. Camshaft bushing running-clearance checks use remover/installer ZTSE2893C. Figures and numbered callouts illustrate each operation step by step, and every fastener is tightened to the special torque value published in the companion “Specifications, Special Torque Values, and Service Tools” section (publication EGES2101).
Applicable truck models
It applies to International DT466E and 530E diesel engines; a camshaft gear heated until it turns blue (over 177°C/350°F) cannot be reused. Align the camgear timing marks with the upper idler gear on installation. For official model information, see the International Trucks (Navistar) website.
Who needs this camshaft rocker arm
Rebuilders replacing a worn camshaft or bushings use these steps to press on the camgear and set end play before valve-train assembly. Because this is one chapter of the complete International DT466 and DT530 (2000-2003) service manual set, most workshops download it alongside the diagnostic manual, the DTC list and the specification volume so the repair, testing and reference material stay together.
