The lockout solenoid is mounted on the top side of the transmission toward the back and is driven by the ECM. Troubleshooting starts by disconnecting the lockout solenoid from the solenoid harness connector pins and inspecting for bent, corroded, or pushed-back pins, damaged seals, and moisture. The technician measures lockout-solenoid resistance between connector pins B and A, expecting 14 to 34 ohms, then checks for a short to ground from pin A. Readings outside range call for replacing the solenoid against the OEM Troubleshooting and Repair Manual; in-range readings move the check to the harness and ECM.
