What this fault code means
Fuel temperature sensor F803 sits in the low-pressure fuel supply gallery between the common rail pump units. Its reading prevents automatic fuel module water draining when the fuel is very cold and limits engine torque when the fuel is too hot.
Set and reset conditions
This is an 8-hour soak rationality check. It runs only after the ignition has been off at least 8 hours, with the coolant to ambient difference below 15 C and ambient above -20 C, and sets when the fuel temperature reading differs by more than 3 C from the average of the other engine temperature sensors.
