PACCAR MX P0093 is the fault code chapter the 2013 PACCAR MX Diagnostic Service Manual publishes for “Engine rail pressure – Sudden pressure drop”. The 9-page PDF is PACCAR’s own troubleshooting write-up for EPA2013 MX engines, reproduced exactly as the factory issued it.

What sets PACCAR MX P0093 active
The diagnostic runs when the rail pressure operating state is pump unit only. The PCI ECU (D420) sets the code when it detects that the actual rail pressure drops suddenly. The DTC changes to inactive when the fault is no longer detected; the repair is validated by keying the ignition off for at least 15 seconds, keying on, then idling the engine for 2 minutes.
Component and wiring checks
- PCI ECU connector D420.A pins A44 (ground), A48 (power supply) and A52 (common rail pressure signal) to sensor connector F854 pins 2, 3 and 1
- Five volts between wiring harness pins 3 and 2 with the ignition keyed on
- The rail pressure sensor cannot be checked with a multimeter or oscilloscope and is monitored with DAVIE instead
Possible causes and repair notes
- External fuel leakage on the high pressure fuel system components
- Internal fuel leakage on the high pressure fuel system components
- Wiring or connector faults on the rail pressure sensor circuit
The rail pressure is measured inside the common rail, and the manual is explicit that the sensor is part of the common rail and is not interchangeable as a separate part. Rail pressure is closed-loop controlled, with the ECU comparing its pressure demand against the feedback from that sensor. Company and product background is on the official PACCAR website.
Who needs this PACCAR MX P0093 chapter
Heavy-duty diesel technicians and fleet shops reach for PACCAR MX P0093 when the code lands on a DAVIE scan and the repair has to follow the factory sequence instead of guesswork.
