This Fuel Cutoff Valve circuit sheet documents Detroit SPN 3482 FMI 4, a low reading that carries a 10 percent derate. It shows how to isolate a short to ground on the valve wiring back to the Motor Control Module. Use it to repair the correct branch.

Fuel Cutoff Valve circuit diagnostic guide
The technician disconnects the FCV sensor and the MCM 120-pin connector, then measures resistance between pin 1 of the FCV harness connector and battery ground at the starter lug. A reading below five ohms points to a short to ground on the pin 1 branch; otherwise the short is on the pin 2 branch. The monitored parameter is the fuel cut off valve, always enabled with a two-second duration, and the MIL and CEL are commanded on when the fault sets.
Document table of contents

- Step-by-step troubleshooting procedure
- FCV harness resistance-to-ground checks
- Short-to-ground repair guidance
Applicable truck models
This procedure applies to Detroit DD Series engines built for EPA 2007 and later, covering all model years (EPA07, EPA10 and GHG14) as printed on the document cover, and the identical SPN/FMI sheet is also filed under Detroit Series 60 (DDEC VI, EPA 2007). Confirm the emissions platform on your truck and cross-check the connector and pin numbers against the official Detroit engine support site before making any repair.
Who needs this Fuel Cutoff Valve circuit manual
A diesel technician working a valve circuit code with a light derate on any Detroit DD model year uses this sheet to place the short to ground on the correct pin before repairing the harness.
