FCV circuit failed open diagnostic guide
The technician reads multiple codes: an active SPN 3471 FMI 5 alongside points to an open between MCM pin 64 and the electronic dosing valve pin 2 and FCV pin 2. If only the one code is present, resistance across FCV pins 1 and 2 is measured; above 20 ohms calls for a new hydrocarbon doser block assembly. Otherwise, with the key on, voltage between FCV harness pin 2 and battery ground of 11.5 to 12.5 volts places the open on the pin 1 branch to MCM pin 69, while a low reading places it on the pin 2 branch to MCM pin 64.
