Eaton Power Connect Fault — Fuller Advantage Fault Code 37

The Eaton Power Connect fault overview explains how Fault Code 37 is detected on the Fuller Advantage Heavy Duty transmission. This TRTS0980 reference describes how the TECU measures voltage drop under high current demand and flags excessive resistance in the vehicle power supply.

Applicable truck models

This applies to Eaton Fuller Advantage Heavy Duty transmissions whose high-current electronic components draw power through the 38-Way Vehicle Harness (J1587 MID 130 SID 251; J1939 SA 3 SPN 627). OEM power-supply guidance and specifications are published on the Eaton Vehicle Group official website.

Eaton Power Connect fault detection logic

During a high-load event such as a shift request, the TECU measures the voltage drop and calculates a resistance value. FMI 5 sets Active when that calculated resistance exceeds 0.4 ohms and no low or weak battery fault is present, and clears when the value falls back below 0.4 ohms.

Who needs this Eaton Power Connect fault manual

Technicians and fleet electricians use this overview to trace high-resistance connections — in-line fuse corrosion, loose terminals or failing batteries — between the battery or starter and the TECU, following OEM diagnostics as the manual directs. The document notes there is no fallback mode for this fault, but transmission performance issues such as rough or slow shifting may still be presented until the resistance is corrected.
