Eaton ECA Ignition Voltage — Fault Code 97 (or 67) Gen2 ECA,

This Eaton ECA ignition voltage manual documents Fault Code 97 (or 67) for the Fuller Advantage transmission, explaining how the Electronic Clutch Actuator needs a 12-volt ignition supply from the TECU and how a loss of that supply sets the code. It is part of Eaton publication TRTS0980, Fault Isolation Procedures, and is specific to systems that use a Gen2 ECA.

The ECA requires the ignition supply to initiate operation when the key is on and monitors it after power up. Under FMI 4, Voltage Below Normal or Shorted Low, the code sets when ignition voltage is shorted to ground or open for two seconds while battery voltage and High Integrity Link communication are maintained; it goes inactive once the signal is within range for six seconds. The addresses shown are J1587 MID 130 and J1939 SA 3.

Applicable truck models

This covers Eaton Fuller Advantage Heavy Duty transmissions with a Gen2 Electronic Clutch Actuator wired to the 8-Way ECA Connector and the 38-Way Transmission Harness Connector at the TECU. Possible causes include damaged wiring between the TECU and ECA, bent, spread, corroded or loose terminals, wiring shorted to ground or open, and internal ECA or TECU failure. Confirm coverage with the manufacturer on the Eaton official website.

Who needs this ECA ignition voltage manual

Driveline technicians facing a transmission that cranks but cannot engage a start gear from neutral use this sheet to confirm the ignition-supply fault before starting the matching Fault Code 97 (or 67) Troubleshooting steps.
