Who needs this pressure sensor DTCs manual
Workshop owners, diesel mechanics, and fleet technicians need this pressure sensor DTCs manual when diagnosing Fault Code 141, PID P0522, SPN 100, FMI 4/4. The procedure is useful when checking sensor supply faults, connector pins, 4.75 to 5.25-VDC supply readings, circuit response with a jumper wire, ECM connector condition, ECM calibration, and fault clearing with INSITE™.
The document states that the ECM provides a 5 volt supply and sensor return for the engine oil pressure sensor, which sends a pressure-based signal from the oil rifle pressure circuit. Fault Code 141 sets when the ECM detects engine oil pressure signal voltage below 0.25-VDC for more than 16 seconds. The amber CHECK ENGINE light illuminates immediately when the diagnostic runs and fails, and a default value is used for engine oil pressure reading. The document also warns that there is no performance effect, but no engine protection for oil pressure.
Repair validation requires starting the engine and letting it idle for 1 minute. INSITE™ changes the fault status to inactive after the diagnostic runs and passes, and the amber CHECK ENGINE lamp turns off after a pass. For OBD engines, the MIL turns off after three consecutive trips where the diagnostic runs and passes. The “Reset All Faults” command in INSITE™ can clear active and inactive faults and extinguish the MIL for OBD engines.
