Mechanics, diesel diagnostic technicians, and workshop owners need this manual when an amber CHECK ENGINE lamp or MIL is linked to SPN 5392 FMI 31 and the dosing unit is unable to prime. It is useful when checking low DEF level, low air pressure at the dosing control unit, plugged inline air filter, blocked or leaking supply lines, DEF crystals, pressure sensor faults, poppet valve faults, and purge completion in INSITE™.
The procedure notes that Fault Code 3548 cannot be cleared with INSITE™ electronic service tool alone. Repair validation requires the Diesel Exhaust Fluid Doser Pump Override Test, confirming priming, dosing, and purging phases and even diesel exhaust fluid flow from the aftertreatment nozzle.
