Applicable truck models
This file applies to Cummins electronic engine brake diagnostics on ISB6.7 CM2150 coverage listed for 2007-09, with procedure references for ISB CM2100 and CM2150 engines, ISC CM2150, and ISL CM2150. The circuit described controls engine brake solenoids under the valve cover through the engine harness and ECM, with output 2 serving cylinders 4, 5, and 6 through the pass-through and jumper harness arrangement. Manufacturer information is available at Cummins official website.
Who needs this code 2363 DTCs manual
Workshop owners, diesel mechanics, and diagnostic technicians need this manual when an amber CHECK ENGINE lamp is linked to SPN 1073 FMI 4 and the engine brake 2 circuit is disabled. It supports systematic testing with INSITE™ electronic service tool, voltage measurement, resistance checks, connector inspection, harness repair decisions, ECM replacement authorization steps, and inactive fault clearing.
The fault description states that low voltage is detected at the engine brake solenoid number 2 signal circuit, and the engine brake on cylinders 4, 5, and 6 cannot be activated. The troubleshooting flow checks whether Fault Code 2363 is inactive, then measures diagnostic supply voltage at the engine brake pass-through connector with a specification of greater than 3.75 VDC. It also directs inspection for loose connectors, corroded pins, bent or broken pins, pushed back or expanded pins, moisture, damaged seals, debris, shell damage, wire insulation damage, and damaged locking tabs.
Later diagnostic steps check the solenoid for a short to ground, using a resistance threshold of 5 ohms or greater. ECM and engine harness tests include connector pin inspection, diagnostic supply voltage checks, pin-to-ground short testing, and pin-to-pin short testing with a greater than 100k ohms specification. Repair direction includes cleaning connectors, repairing or replacing the engine harness, replacing the engine brake solenoid when required, and calling for authorization before ECM replacement.
