SPN 3510 FMI 8 is documented in this Detroit DD Series fault code reference PDF, which covers the 2-Channel Accelerator Pedal Supply Voltage Missing condition on Detroit engines. The 3-page document lists the fault description, the step-by-step troubleshooting sequence and the connector measurements a technician uses to confirm the repair.

Applicable truck models and engines
This fault code applies to Detroit DD Series (EPA 2007-Current) GHG14 engines using the CPC4, and the DiagTechPro library also files it under the Series 60 (DDEC VI, EPA 2007) DTC set. The diagnostic references the Common Powertrain Controller (CPC4) used on these Detroit powertrains. See the manufacturer’s Detroit official website for current engine specifications and dealer support.
SPN 3510 FMI 8 troubleshooting overview
With the ignition off, the technician disconnects the Accelerator Pedal (AP) connector and the CPC4 number 1 connector, then measures resistance between pins C and B of the AP connector to find a short between wires 8 and 4. The CPC4 number 3 and number 4 connectors are disconnected and resistance is measured between pins E and F, and from pins C and D to ground, to isolate shorts in the accelerator pedal wiring. If every reading is above 10K ohms, the manual directs replacing the accelerator pedal.
Who needs this SPN 3510 FMI 8 manual
Detroit-certified technicians, independent truck repair shops and fleet maintenance teams will use this reference to follow the factory diagnostic sequence with a diesel diagnostic tool before replacing any control module or sensor.
