Fault definition and diagnosis
The monitored parameter is CAN communication with MIL and CEL lamps and a two-second typical duration. The technician first checks for battery-voltage faults (SPN 168), confirms whether the ACM2.1, MCM2.1 or CPC4 was recently programmed, clears the codes to see if they return active, and then disconnects the ACM2.1 21-pin connector, noting that main battery power must be removed before continuing. The sheet also directs that the codes be cleared and the vehicle released if the fault does not return active after reprogramming.
