PACCAR MX P006B is the fault code chapter the 2013 PACCAR MX Diagnostic Service Manual publishes for “Pressure after BPV – Data erratic, intermittent, or incorrect at ignition ON”. The 10-page PDF is PACCAR’s own troubleshooting write-up for EPA2013 MX engines, reproduced exactly as the factory issued it.

What sets PACCAR MX P006B active
The diagnostic runs when the ignition is keyed on with no engine start and the ambient temperature is above -20°C [-4°F]. The PCI ECU (D420) sets the code when the measured pressure after the BPV differs by more than 0.07 bar [1 psi] from the average of the other pressure sensors on the engine for more than 5 seconds. To validate the repair the ignition is keyed on with the engine off and left for 10 seconds so the system initializes and runs its diagnostics.
Component and wiring checks
- PCI ECU connector D420.C pins C36 (ground), C59 (power supply) and C81 (signal, pressure after BPV) to sensor connector F823 pins 4, 2 and 1
- Five volts between wiring harness pins 2 and 4 with the ignition keyed on
- Supply and signal voltages plus cable continuity checked with a breakout harness
Possible causes and repair notes
- Pressure sensor after BPV deviation from the other engine pressure sensors
- Faulty connector or damaged sensor wiring
- Electrical values outside the specified ranges at the ECU connector
The sensor (F823) reads exhaust gas pressure after the BPV valve through a steel tube, and its signal corrects the NOx sensor value before the catalyst and feeds the calculated exhaust gas temperature before the turbine. Where the fault cannot be isolated, the manual sends the technician to the Engine Support Call Center at 1-800-477-0251. Company and product background is on the official PACCAR website.
Who needs this PACCAR MX P006B chapter
Heavy-duty diesel technicians and fleet shops reach for PACCAR MX P006B when the code lands on a DAVIE scan and the repair has to follow the factory sequence instead of guesswork.
