This Detroit accelerator pedal fault sheet documents SPN 3510 FMI 2, logged when the throttle pedal supply circuit receives erratic data. It leads a technician through measuring the accelerator pedal (AP) harness supply voltage and the resistance back to the Common Powertrain Controller (CPC) #1. The goal is to decide between repairing an open circuit and replacing the pedal.

Detroit accelerator pedal fault diagnostic guide
The procedure has the technician disconnect the AP, switch the ignition on and check for 4.5 to 5.5 volts between pins 1 and 3 of the AP harness connector, then between pin 1 and ground. If supply is low it points to an open between the AP connector and pin 4 or pin 8 of the CPC #1. A final resistance check greater than three ohms between AP pin 2 and CPC #1 pin 7 confirms an open; otherwise the pedal is replaced.
Document table of contents

Applicable truck models
This procedure applies to Detroit DD Series engines built for EPA 2007 and later, covering all model years (EPA07, EPA10 and GHG14) as printed on the document cover, and the identical SPN/FMI sheet is also filed under Detroit Series 60 (DDEC VI, EPA 2007). Confirm the emissions platform on your truck and cross-check the connector and pin numbers against the official Detroit engine support site before making any repair.
Who needs this Detroit accelerator pedal fault manual
Truck electricians and diesel technicians facing an erratic pedal signal, unexpected derate or a no-throttle complaint on a Detroit DD engine use this sheet to test the supply properly instead of guessing at the pedal or the controller.
